Vietnam Workcamp 2012 Update

The Vietnam Workcamp 2012 is fast approaching. The group of 16 are busily fundraising, applying for passports and visas and getting vaccinations in preparation for what will no doubt be a wonderful trip. What a year!!!!!! So much activity has occurred this year in the club. Who could forget the awesome camps or the different places we visited for our Saturday activities. With a lot of the counsellors away during December, there won’t be much activity but after Christmas, there will be weekly activities with the Summer Camp being the grand highlight. 2011 Melbourne Workcamp

What is a workcamp? Workcamps are aimed at helping young men discover their spirit of self-giving and the satisfaction derived from this. Our workcamp will involve carrying out repair work on the second largest Catholic Church in Melbourne, Our Lady Star of the Sea. Although we will not be working the whole time, the boys need to attend eager to help out and to work hard, in order to complete the projects. We will be staying in the presbytery at the parish. There are a number of study weekends coming up for students in Year 7, 8 and 9 which will help them to prepare well for their end-of-year exams. My Experience Of The Nairana 2011 Survival Camp By Jonathan Choong (Year 7) This year’s survival camp was a great experience for me because this was the first real bushwalk I’ve had. The course was called the Six Foot Track, which started in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains and ended at the Jenolan Caves. Our camp at Dungog was truly one of exploration. Whether we were crossing streams or climbing mountains we managed to get to know and understand not just the wonderful town of Dungog, but also ourselves.
