Passport and Visa
Please ensure that you have a valid passport with at least six months validity from the date of return to Australia (ie. your passport should not expire earlier than 31 July 2011).
Hopefully you will have your visa by now! If not please call Seb or Tim as soon as possible!
Travel Insurance
We have already arranged travel insurance for the group. Seb James is looking after this if you have any questions.
First Aid and Medical Information
Every participant must consult a doctor (GP) in relation to special immunisations, medications or injections. Any qualified GP would have the relevant information (by country) regarding the immunisations, medications, and injections required. This has to be done as soon as practicable, as some vaccinations need to be taken weeks in advance.
The Department of Foreign Affairs offers relevant information regarding health risks in Vietnam. Please visit www.dfat.gov.au for further information.
Please make sure you bring plenty of insect repellent as the insect presence can be intense.
BBQ – Final Information Session
We are going to have another meeting with everyone before we head off, so we can all meet each other and make sure everyone is set for the big trip. It will occur probably the week before we set off. We will keep you posted.
What to bring?
Below there is a comprehensive checklist of all you will need to bring.
The main idea is to pack light – it makes things a lot easier for travel purposes and experienced workcampers will tell you that they only use half the gear they bring, so keep it simple.
Some people like bringing digital cameras or even video cameras to these camps – there are many memories to take away. If you are thinking of doing so, keep in mind that you always do so at a certain risk of loss or damage. While our accommodation is safe and our belongings secure, you will need to take caution and be personally responsible for your own belongings.
Please be advised that the maximum weight of luggage is 23kg. Please ensure that your luggage is less than 23kg, otherwise you may have to pay excess luggage fees on a per kg basis (which can be quite expensive).
